Waiting...

Again it's been months since I last blogged, but I thought I'd write a quick post while I was thinking about it. Much has transpired in the past few months. The biggest news is that we are anxiously awaiting the birth of our 4th child. It's a boy to be named Knox Carlysle Stout. Knox is significant because of John Knox, one of the leaders of the protestant reformation. Carlysle was my grandfather's name. My grandfather was a great man and served as a Marine in WWII.
The kids are getting excited about having a new baby, and we pray the transition will go smoothly. The Fall has been pretty normal. We are enjoying our second year of home schooling. I definately feel like I've gotten much more adjusted to it and am seeing the fruit of investing in my kids in this way.
This is the worst part of pregnancy to me. I guess because I'm so out of control. Knowing that a baby could come today or 10 days from now makes it hard to just enjoy today. I just want to have it all planned out. But we are thankful for God's blessing on our family in this way.

God's Rules

My middle child is a VERY picky eater. It's almost amusing at times to watch him try to eat things. He will say he needs to use the bathroom or talk a hundred miles an hour in order to avoid something he doesn't want to eat. He will often gag just at the thought of the food on his plate.
Well tonight was no different. We had lasagne. I don't understand how anyone could not like that, but he doesn't. He didn't eat much at all. When it was time for a cookie he was promptly told that he had not eaten well enough for one. A little while later he still wanted a cookie so we told him he could eat his lasagne and then get a cookie. So he sat down for take two. He just could not overcome his fear of lasagne. He said to me, "Mom? Why did God make the rule that you have to eat your food so you can get dessert?" I laughed so hard! He still didn't get his cookie!

Homeschooling 101

Here's Coley sitting at our table doing her school work. It's been really fun to see her learning and to be a part of this process. I will pridefully love to say, "I taught her how to read." She's already reading some easy books. Here is a sample of her math work. Tonight her daddy took her to chic fil A so he could be a part of school too. She's going to do a math worksheet with him and read him a book. She was very excited, but I think it was mostly because of the ice cream!
