Deer Oh Deer!
Look what Coley spotted in our backyard this morning. Parker said, "Let's shoot it!" I'm kinda glad Kevin wasn't home or he may have gotten arrested for illegal hunting.

God's Rules
My middle child is a VERY picky eater. It's almost amusing at times to watch him try to eat things. He will say he needs to use the bathroom or talk a hundred miles an hour in order to avoid something he doesn't want to eat. He will often gag just at the thought of the food on his plate.
Well tonight was no different. We had lasagne. I don't understand how anyone could not like that, but he doesn't. He didn't eat much at all. When it was time for a cookie he was promptly told that he had not eaten well enough for one. A little while later he still wanted a cookie so we told him he could eat his lasagne and then get a cookie. So he sat down for take two. He just could not overcome his fear of lasagne. He said to me, "Mom? Why did God make the rule that you have to eat your food so you can get dessert?" I laughed so hard! He still didn't get his cookie!

Where were you on 9/11?
On 9/11/01 I was running on the treadmill at a gym right after the first plane hit. A few of us began watching the t.v. and discussing what was going on. After the second plane hit we were glued. I must have stayed on the treadmill (walking) for 2 hours. I then went home to my parent's house and watched it the whole day. I was staying with my parent's in preparation for our wedding 18 days later. I had just moved home temporarily before moving to Missouri to join Kevin.
Honestly, I don't think the enormity of the situation hit me for several days. I don't know that it ever did or can. Kevin and I had an argument later that day because I didn't cry about things. I couldn't! I was numb. The following days were filled with much t.v. watching. I had more free time at this point since I wasn't working.
After our wedding we flew to Florida for our honeymoon. It was surreal. No one was traveling. The national guard was stationed at the airports with machine guns. I felt like I was in another country. I had seen this type of security in South Africa.
I must say that after 8 years it's hard to "remember" that day. What I felt or did. So many gave their lives. I tried to explain to Coley (in a very childlike way) about 9/11. May we not forget!
